God’s Plan of Salvation

God’s Purpose

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

God so loves you that He gave Jesus to die on the cross for you!

God’s purpose is for you to believe in Jesus so that you would not die . . . that is be eternally separated from Him

AND

So that you might have eternal life . . . that is you go to heaven when you die but even more live an abundant life on this earth full of joy, peace, and contentment.

Your Problem

Rom 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God

Sin is anything that displeases God.  All of us have done something that has displeased God.

Our sin separates us from God and all the blessings of eternal life He has for us.

Our biggest problem is that we have no ability in and of ourselves to fix our sin problem

God’s Solution

Rom 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

God provided a solution for your sin problem by sending Jesus, His Son, to die on the cross for you and your sins.  But even more, Jesus rose again from the dead so that you might have life . . . life eternal and life abundant.

Your Response

Rom 10:9 if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved

To be saved you must:

You must believe what God’s Word, the Bible, says is most important about Jesus. . . that Jesus died for your sins, that Jesus was buried, and that Jesus rose again so you could have life both eternal and abundant.

You must confess Jesus is Lord.

Confess means admit, tell someone something.

The person you must confess to is God for only God can save you.

What you must admit to God is that Jesus is Lord . . . that is you give Jesus complete and total control of your life.

Here’s how it works practically:

You believe what the Bible says about  Jesus so much you see that you personally, your sins, put Jesus on the cross.  That makes you feel sorrow . . . godly sorrow.  And that sorrow causes you to repent, that is, turn from self control and sin and turn to God confessing Jesus as your Lord.

Would you like to receive God’s offer of eternal and abundant life?

If so, below is a suggested prayer you can use to confess Jesus as your Lord.  Its not so much the words you speak but your genuine intentions.  Simply tell God what you are feeling and ask Him to save you and give you eternal life.

To be saved, talk to God and say to Him:

“God, I believe Jesus died for my sins. Forgive me of my sins.  I want Jesus to take control of my life and be my Lord.  I want You to give me eternal life . . .  abundant life.  Thank You, God, for saving  me.”

If you prayed to make Jesus Lord of your life, you are assured by the Word of God that you are saved.  Romans 10:13 “ for whoever will call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
